Football Coaching extended for a month

Hetauda : The football coaching began in July 2007 has been extended to another month after the request of the participant students.

Tt is really encouraging to see girls committed to play football. Some girls get up at 4 o'clock in the morning to be able to attend the coach. They finish their social responsibilities in their homes so that their parents would not object their participation in the sports.

One of the participants told" If I do not feed my buffaloes and do not complete domestic chores as a daugther, I will not be allowed to take part in sports. I do not want to miss this chance. I want to show my parents and other women in the village that girls are equally capable in every area if they are given a chance".

Another girl who belongs to a Dalit community feels that this project has given her confidence and self identity. She adds," I always had an inferiority feeling that I am Dalit and I would have no chance to play, but I thank NEST for organising this coaching and giving priority for girls". She does not forget to share her dream: " I want to be a successful national football player".
The play ground is muddy and it rains heavily, but participants do not stop playing. They do not have sports shoes and do not have extra uniforms. However, they manage to practise early in the morning. Some of the participants walk to the coaching centre for 1 hour.
